KMF Celebrates International Women’s Day 2026!
For International Women’s Day 2026, we’re shining the spotlight on our female colleagues who continue to inspire us every day.
We’re proud to be an inclusive employer, that champions women in engineering, in several roles.
According to the Society of Women Engineers, women make up 28.2% of the global STEM workforce as of 2024 (roughly 1 million women), compared with 47.3% in non-STEM fields.
Women in Engineering Careers at KMF
Careers at KMF often begin with our award-winning apprenticeship programme, that includes Millie Richards-Snape and Lucy Hughes two of our brightest apprentices, plus Kayleigh Simm who won the prestigious Confederation of British Metalforming’s (CBM) Apprentice of the Year accolade in 2024, as well as being shortlisted for the Apprentice of the Year category at last year’s University of Staffordshire Business Awards.
We’re proud to have staff members such as Holly Goodwin-Fowell (Team Leader) and Samantha Richardson, Senior Team Member, showing how women can achieve their career goals in engineering at KMF, whilst inspiring other members of our team.
Outside of work, several of our female staff have been training at Leek Town ahead of the football tournament on 15th May, which they have proudly spearheaded to include a women’s competition
A Team Full of Inspiration
Jenny Johnston, People and Culture Manager was full of praise for her female colleagues, saying,
“I’m proud to work with such a supportive workforce that really champions women in engineering. From our successful apprenticeship programme, which has been running since 2002, right up to Senior roles in the company, KMF has always supported the progression of women in different areas of the business.
“For International Women’s Day, it’s important to highlight just a fraction of the women who help to make KMF a great place to work.”
