KMF Arctic Challenge
In March 2020, a team of trekkers headed to the Arctic circle to take on KMF’s gruelling Arctic challenge – trekking 116km over 5 days in freezing temperatures as low as -15 degrees, to raise money for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice.
The team raised an amazing £104,280 for the Dougie Mac hospice, which relies on the generosity of supporters to care for patients who are living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. KMF is one of the charity’s platinum corporate sponsors.
The Butterflies
KMF Group is part of a unique partnership forged between various companies from North Staffordshire and South Cheshire to support The Donna Louise Hospice for Children and Young People with their latest fundraising campaign, The Butterflies.
As well as taking a key role in project management, KMF manufactured thousands of stainless-steel butterflies to complement the Taking Flight art installation at the Trentham Estate in Staffordshire raising over £150,000 for the charity’s new young adult facility.
Remembrance poppies
Each year, to commemorate Remembrance Sunday in the UK, KMF manufactures and sells stunning metal remembrance garden poppies to raise money for various charities such as Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, Combat Stress (the veterans’ mental health charity) and SSAFA (the armed forces charity).
The project, which is managed by KMF’s 2nd year sheet metal fabrication apprentices, has raised over £12,000 over the last three years.
Spitfire project
In 2018, KMF apprentices took on their biggest challenge to date with the construction of a full-size, stainless steel sculpture of the iconic WWII Spitfire. The challenge, in collaboration with artist and self-confessed spitfire fanatic Suhail Shaikh and with the help of Operation Spitfire, hoped to ignite inspiration through restoration. The replica was used to support Stoke-on-Trent’s bid for UK City of Culture and is currently on display at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery.
ISO 14001 Environmental Management
ISO 14001 is the international standard that specifies requirements for an effective environmental management system (EMS). It provides a framework that KMF follows to reduce its environmental impact and ensure sustainable operations.
KMF’s environmental policy is reviewed annually and employees are actively encouraged to generate ideas and processes to support the standard through the company’s Productivity Share Scheme.
