KMF Group manufactures and delivers sub-contract sheet metal services to leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) across the UK and Europe.

Our History

Established in 1971, KMF Group started from humble beginnings and has grown into one of the largest sheet metal companies in the UK and Europe.

1971

KMF was founded by Michael Higgins, Ken Warburton and Fred Leigh and established as a Ltd company.

1982

KMF invested in one of the first CNC machines in the country, the Trumpf TCL2503E cutting machine.

1995

KMF invested in the first purchase of a punch press machine, the Stippit.

2004

KMF moved to its current location in the High Carr Business Park and installed its first automated bending robot. This year also saw KMF celebrate its first £10 million year with an annual turnover of £11.7 million.

2009

After hiring its first internal apprentice, KMF built the EAL training centre to help deliver its award-winning in-house apprenticeships.

2010

Gareth Higgins, son of Micheal Higgins became the Managing Director of KMF Precision Sheet Metal Ltd.

2013

KMF invested £1 million into a custom-built aerospace facility to manufacture components for the aerospace, medical and defence sectors.

2017

KMF Precision Sheet Metal expands further and invests in a custom stainless steel production unit ‘KMF Special Products’, complete with specialised welding units and glass bead blasting equipment. During this year, Managing Director, Gareth Higgins also receives an MBE from Her Majesty the Queen for his services to apprenticeships.

2023

KMF invests £425,000 into a state-of-the-art bead blast room and Salvagnini panel folding machine to accommodate its growing customer base.

Our world-class facilities

KMF Group boasts two large manufacturing plants, KMF Precision Sheet Metal and KMF Precision Sheet Metal Slovakia, spanning 255,000 sq ft of manufacturing space. Utilising the latest technology, our facilities run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Some of our metal manufacturing sites also contain sub-units and deliver specialist sheet metal fabrication services for industries or products with unique, complex or stringent demands.
