Which fabrication processes are available on-site? 

As a one-stop shop manufacturer, we offer services including CNC punching, laser cutting, forming, linishing, welding and assembly. 

Our fabrication processes can take our clients from concept enquiry to finished article, so we also offer finishing (such as powder coating, wet painting, bead blasting, graining, silk screening. Finally, we offer advanced product assembly and integration to provide the finished product. 

Do you offer welding? If so, how do MIG and TIG compare? 

Yes, we do offer welding as one of the many aspects of fabrication that we specialise in.  

We use MIG because it is fast, versatile and ideal for thicker materials, whilst we select TIG for a cleaner, more precise weld for stainless or thin gauge and for aesthetic finishes.  

TIG is ideal for products requiring clean seams. 

What is the difference between CNC punching and laser cutting? 

Both CNC punching and laser cutting are precise cutting methods.  

CNC punching uses a punch press to create holes and shapes by pressing a tool through the sheet metal, ideal for repetitive shapes and high volumes.  

Laser cutting uses a focused laser beam to cut intricate designs and complex geometries, offering high precision and flexibility for various material thicknesses.  

KMF utilises both technologies to optimise for specific project requirements. 

What quality standards does KMF adhere to? 

KMF is committed to maintaining exceptional quality standards. We are ISO 9001:2015 accredited and uphold stringent procedures with strict quality assurance teams. 

Additionally, KMF Group hold further accreditations, including AS9100 for Aerospace, ISO 14001 Environmental Management, and OHSAS 18001 Health & Safety, where applicable. 

How is quality control maintained throughout the fabrication process? 

Quality control is embedded at every stage of our production process.  

This includes pre-production checks of materials, in-process inspections, and a final comprehensive inspection of the finished product.  

We use leading inspection equipment, including portable 3D arm measurement instruments and camera vision systems, alongside state-of-the-art CMM metrology. 

Where are KMF’s manufacturing facilities located? 

KMF operates from multiple manufacturing sites across the UK and Europe. Our main facilities include Newcastle-under-Lyme in the UK and Trencin in Slovakia, allowing us to serve both UK and European clients efficiently. 

What are KMF’s lead times? 

Lead times vary depending on the complexity and volume of the project. However, KMF’s focus on automation and efficient processes aims to minimise lead times and provide agile solutions.  

We can provide accurate lead times at the initial quotation stage. 

How does KMF manage the supply chain? 

As a one-stop shop manufacturer, KMF controls all aspects of the supply chain, from sourcing raw materials to final delivery.
