KMF Precision Sheet Metal has invested £500,000 in the development of a bespoke, purpose-built manufacturing unit specialising in non-ferrous and stainless-steel fabrication.

The renovated facility will share metal punching and laser services with the main site at KMF Precision Sheet Metal but house a dedicated bending department, welding bays, a bespoke linishing and finishing room and a glass bead blasting cabinet.

KMF Special Products will house some of KMF's largest stainless-steel customers and offers a real opportunity for KMF to improve their current offering to clients who favour separate processing of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, mainly manufacturers of food processing and washroom equipment.

This facility also allows KMF, as stainless-steel fabricators, to offer a comprehensive metal dressing service as part of its metal fabrication service. The dressing capability permits stainless steel fabrications to be finished to a quality standard, removing oxidisation marks and reapplying grain to brushed finished items.

Keith Nicholl, Commercial Director at KMF, said:"The planned investment in facilities and equipment, to create a high-end bespoke Stainless-Steel manufacturing centre, represents a great opportunity for our business development team to further support both existing and new customers in this demanding sector."

"We have high aspirations that the resulting area will offer a level of competitiveness and control that will appeal to customers that we have not been able to partner with before."

The new stainless-steel facility will be operational soon thanks to the efforts of KMF's Continuous Improvement, Purchasing and Maintenance teams.
