KMF are passionate about apprenticeships. Our apprentices are the future of our business, and as such, we provide the very best training through our in-house Apprenticeship Programme; which is recognised by the National Apprenticeship Service as world-class.

By joining KMF as an apprentice, not only will you gain valuable 'on the job' experience and work towards professional qualifications but you'll also earn a substantial salary from day one.

The KMF Apprenticeship Programme is also approved by EAL Ltd (Excellence, Achievement & Learning), the awarding body for the industry, and has won numerous awards for outstanding achievement.

We offer apprenticeships in multiple disciplines, including Engineering Technology, Fabrication & Welding and Engineering Technician, which are delivered in-house in our dedicated training centre and advanced manufacturing facilities.

Our 2020 Engineering Apprenticeship Open Day is taking place on 6th February 2020 from 2-8pm at KMF Precision Sheet Metal, Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST5 7UF. Come along to tour our leading facilities, discuss qualification's and meet current and ex KMF apprentices.

More on KMF Engineering Apprenticeships

Who are KMF?

KMF is one of the most successful Precision Sheet Metal and Precision Engineering companies within the UK.

As a subcontractor, we work with brand-name companies across several industry sectors to manufacture products that you will probably come across in day-today life.

Formed in 1971, the KMF Group has grown significantly and now employs over 500 members of staff, with multiple UK manufacturing facilities as well as a division in Slovakia.

Our apprenticeship scheme is essential in providing the next generation of new technology led engineering specialists and is now a major strategy within our recruitment plan.

What apprenticeship qualifications do KMF offer?

KMF currently offer level 2 and level 3 diplomas in Engineering Technology and Fabrication and Welding Engineering and in 2017, launched an Engineering Technician apprenticeship at KMF Precision Engineering.

What does an engineering apprenticeship at KMF look like?

An apprenticeship at KMF is made up of both practical and theory elements and the primary incentive for many who choose this option is that apprentices earn as they learn.

Time spent in the commercial and production elements of the business is written into each apprentice's training programme from the beginning of their employment. Spending three months in each department, trainees gain an extremely broad yet detailed set of manufacturing skills.

Apprentices at KMF now score significantly higher than the national average. We teach in classes of up to eight, with in-house lecturers having time to address any problems that may arise. Being on-site throughout the KMF apprenticeship also allows a greater involvement with the wider aspects of the business.

Apprentices are expected to work to a standard required by both KMF and the national curriculum. Daily work is observed, and a small amount of your own time is expected to be used for revision and involvement in local community projects and charity fundraising.

KMF are an award-winning apprentice employer. Our Welding & Fabrication, Engineering Technician and Degree apprenticeships offer lots of benefits to young people wanting to pursue a career in engineering.

Wider Opportunities as a KMF Apprentice

The KMF Apprenticeship programme offers more than world-class training. Apprentices are consistently given opportunities to further improve their skills, experience new things and support the wider community. Examples of wider opportunities include competing at the infamous World Skills Competition and attending the annual apprentice out-of-bounds trip in France, where apprentices spend a week mountain biking, hiking and canyoning in Luchon.

During the programme, apprentices also undertake an annual community challenge where they are asked to carry out a minimum of 50 hours community service. This can include a broad range of community projects, from constructing a water feature for a local school to entertaining young carers on well-deserved breaks.

Still not sure if a KMF engineering apprenticeship is for you? Come along to our open day on February 6th 2020 to seek more information, tour facilities and speak to current KMF apprentices about their experience so far. Download Open Day Details.
