Sheet metal manufacturer KMF has invested in a new ROMER measuring arm to enhance their advanced quality control system and measuring processes for high-accuracy parts.
KMF Group's metal fabrication facility in Staffordshire, UK, designs, manufactures and assembles complex metal components for global OEMs in the aerospace, medical and defence industries. A recent project, which has involved the installation of a new ROMER portable measuring arm with integrated scanner, will change the way KMF measures parts — improving accuracy and providing faster-than-ever 3D data capture across a range of surfaces and applications.
The new inspection equipment, which holds full B89.4.22 certification, will now form a vital part of the at KMF, being utilised for first article inspection, part-to-CAD and in-process measurement.
The system is also suited to product benchmarking, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping and 3D modelling.
The accuracy of the complete scanning system is fully verifiable and traceable, and customers who rely on KMF for high-accuracy applications like aerospace engineering and high-volume automotive manufacturing, can benefit from increased confidence in the exactness of measurements.
