Welding is a hugely important part of sheet metal fabrication operations at KMF. Our industrial welding workforce is highly skilled and trained in all aspects of welding techniques, and KMF is continually investing in equipment, technology and training to stay at the forefront of industrial welding in the UK.

Our welding engineers are highly qualified and superbly equipped to weld all ferrous and non-ferrous materials using 12 dedicated welding bays with full MIG and TIG facilities.

Our competent, skilled welders have the substantial experience needed to carry out welding on all types of metal from speciality stainless steels to many heat-resistant materials.

KMF also operates two fully automated, ABB robot MIG and TIG welding cells. These are accompanied by stud welding machinery, enabling KMF to fulfil almost any customer requirement.

The industrial welding area at KMF comes complete with two overhead heavyweight cranes and welding extraction units.

KMF works closely with clients, contractors and advisors to develop the performance of welding operations to meet the increasing demand for the highest quality welding and enhanced productivity.

Our dedicated fully-enclosed linishing department gives KMF Precision Sheet Metal the ideal environment for the finishing of metal components to the very highest standards.

Skilled linishing operators and the latest linishing machinery allows KMF to dress welded parts to perfection; this may mean matching an original grained appearance or producing the best possible surface for other finishes.

Fine grinding and sanding techniques allow KMF to provide a top quality finished metal product as part of a complete metal manufacturing and engineering solution.

Machines available

MIG Welding

  • Metal Inert Gas welding is the process of using electricity to melt and join pieces of metal, to form a fused metal unit.
  • Semi-Automated
  • Minimum Weld Splatter
  • Ability to join a wide range of metals and thicknesses (carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, magnesium and copper etc.)

TIG Welding

  • Tungsten Inert Gas welding is an arc welding process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode, alongside an electrical energy, to produce the weld.
  • TIG can weld a range of metal surfaces (Copper, Titanium, Aluminium or steel) and even two dissimilar metals
  • Often used for more complex welds e.g. s-curves
  • Versatile
