KMF (Precision Sheet Metal) is happy to sponsor the Learn More awards which promote education and training.
The Learn More awards are spearheaded by Stoke-on-Trent City Council's Enterprise and Skills Team and recognise the achievements of individuals and organisations that embody the true spirit of learning and performance.
When approached to sponsor one of the nine awards KMF was happy to put its backing behind the Young Learner of the Year category, an area that is close to KMF's heart given its encouragement of engineering apprenticeships.
"Supporting the Young Learner of the Year Award made perfect sense to us at KMF, we are already heavily involved with ongoing learning through our in-house training of apprentices," said KMF Training Centre Manager Jenny Conlon.
"We have a passion for getting young people into learning and developing skills that they can use in their career and personal development."
The competition for the award was extremely tough, with six young people, between the ages of 16 and 25 shortlisted. The task of picking a winner for the judging panel was a difficult task but eventually joint winners were announced.
Alice Bridgwood who demonstrated an exceptional ability to learn and has won a place at Trinity College, Cambridge for her efforts, and JoJo Putnam who overcame personal difficulties to use learning as a route to great achievement, and he is now seen as a motivational role model for other students.
