The competition was launched in 2012 to help bridge the gap between education and industry and has grown from strength to strength.
Young Engineer of the Year 2015, has challenged Year 10 students to design, print and pitch a gadget using the latest 3D printing technology.
Each school is provided with a MakerBot Z18 to give students a taste of the technology they may be using in their future careers.
Soft business skills are developed throughout the project, and this year, presentation, pitch and communication skills will be put to the test as students enter the Den to secure a Dragons' 'investment' for their gadget.
A Dragons' "investment" will take the form of place in the final held on the 18th of June. The finalists will pitch their ideas to Jason Bradbury, from Channel 5's The Gadget Show Show, who will decide this year's winner.
