A team of KMF Group employees have cycled across Devon in a Coast 2 Coast Cycle Ride to raise money for Douglas Macmillan and Neuroblastoma UK.

The 103-mile ride, which took place on the 14th-16th of July, challenged the team to cycle from Ilfracombe to Plymouth in two short rainy days.

On Day 1 to cyclists rode 60 miles from Ilfracombe to Okehampton. The team travelled along the magnificent craggy coastline of North Devon, riding along the three-mile beach at Woolacombe, the traffic free Tarka Trail and following the tidal scenery of the Taw and Torridge estuaries.

The second day included a slightly shorter ride from Okehampton to Plymouth; navigating through the hills of Dartmoor before joining the river Tavy and finally finishing in the Plym Valley, following the riverside trail into Plymouth.

Paul Kinnersley, a design engineer at KMF, organised the trip: "I have been a keen cyclist for many years now and really enjoy participating in weekend rides, which is made even nicer if we can raise some money towards a charity. The main aim was to start as a team and finish all together as one team which is what we did.

One low of the ride was when I had a blowout which split the tyre, drastically slimming my chances of finishing the cycle. Luck has it, Helen Delap noticed a bike shop after a mile, so I was able to fit a new tyre to allow us to continue at speed."

The group of riders, which included Paul Kinnersley, Simon Lucas, Karl Moseley, Alan Cooper and Kate Lewis raised approximately £1200 for the two charities.
